Tommy can you hear me?

I’ve wanted a pair of Toms for a while now. Last week I finally got a pair. I love that me buying a pair means that a child in need will get a pair, too. They’ve now become my daily staple.

This outfit is a mix of what I wore and what I bought at the Fashionista’s Ball where all the proceeds raised when to the United Way. I find the best pieces are the ones you can’t wait to wear and that seamlessly meld into your existing wardrobe.

Stripped tank: (Target), White tank: AE, Button-up: DKNY (Thrifted), Jeans: The Rock Star (Old Navy), Purse: vintage (Thrifted), Shoes: Toms (JennyFleur), Sunglasses: Nine West, Pashmina: Fashionista’s Ball (Thrifted), Watch: Timex (Zellers), Earrings: Austrian Crystal (The Bay), Trench: Primark (Spain),

Little tips for a big day

Do you have an important event coming up this summer? Here are some tips on when to book your beauty appointments in the two weeks before the event.

Cut – 14 days

Stylists say a cut look best about two weeks following a salon visit, when the layers and bangs have settled and have lost their blunter ends.

Colour – 10 days

Stylists say you’ll have the best match to your skin tone 10 days after foils.

Massage – 3 days

If planning the event has been particularity stressful a massage might be a nice treat. YES Tip: My favourite is a hot stone massage.

Brows – 2 days

Book this a couple days before your event to give enough time to dissipate any redness and leave you with a clean, clear arch.

Nails – day of or 1 day

A regular manicure starts to chip after a couple of days. Avoid activities that could chip your polish between the appointment and the event.

While a pedicure is harder to chip, it is necessary to give the polish enough time to dry. Bring flip flops to wear out after your appointment and avoid shoes and socks for 5 hours.

Good luck and have fun!!

Double overtime

We visited Queen Elizabeth Park this past weekend. But before I show you those pictures I wanted to share this one taken on my Hockey Hall of Fame visit in Toronto back in 2007. Good things come to those who wait…Congratulations Canucks on making it to the Stanley Cup finals.

Notice the choice of Canuck colours. Shirt: Banana Republic, Cardi: Gap (borrowed), Pearls: Jacob, Trench: Vero Moda, Button: YES (gift), Skirt: Attitude (Sears), Watch: Timex (Zellers), Shoes: Steve Madden, Purse: vintage (Thrifted), Sunglasses: Nine West, Tights: H&M, Earrings: Austrian Crystal (The Bay)

Near the base of my nails the polish was chipping. To extend the life of my Sally Hansen Salon Effects I used nail polish remover to turn them into french tips.
