fancy feet

After too many summers of my flat sandals falling well, flat, I decided to give my feet a break and some cushion and pick up a couple pairs that offer a little something more to walk on.

Franco_Sarto

Franco Sarto Gia. I found my pair for sale at the Bay downtown. Also available online at Sears.

N_700

Naturalizer Archer. This pair has the N5 Comfort foot bed.

Underneath it (almost) all

Nothing gives a lady confidence quite like the right underpinnings. A cami can do wonders to smooth things out (tucked in or not) and provide modest coverage with a sheer top. Nude ones are great under just about anything and if it’s going to poke out at the top or bottom a white, black, or colour to go with the outfit is often a good choice.

The good news is that they’re pretty readily available. The most versatile ones are seamless and made with Lycra and Spandex. Here are a few of my favourite places in Canada to find them at a few different price points:

Jacob. The seamless cami. Has a slight v-neck. Priced at $29.90 each.

Mexx. They make them in seasonal colours to coordinate with their tops. Regular price is $19.90 each. These have adjustable straps like a bra so you can bring the neckline higher or lower depending on your needs.

RW&Co. They come in a bunch of colours and styles. I’d steer clear of the ones with lace at the top (a bit too ’90’s). Regular priced at $22.50 each or 2 for $35.

Ricki’s. They have ones with spaghetti straps and ones with thick straps and come in the classic colours: nude, black and white and some other colours as well. They sell for $18.50 each or 2 for $28. The Lycra on these ones feels super soft and smooth.

Walmart. George line. $6 each, ’nuff said (make sure you pick the Lycra ones not the cotton ones for colour and durability – couldn’t find them online. Try in-store).

Moods of Madrid

Surrounded by black and white photos of famous people at the shop (most dressed to the nines – Naomi Campbell in this Alexander McQueen dress, for instance) we enjoyed ducking out of the rain to enjoy some delicious churros  con chocolate.
